Collagen Replacement Therapy
Facial wrinkles and creases begin to appear as the underlying collagen and elastin fibers begin to break down and wear out. While this breakdown is part of the natural aging process, it can also result from excessive squinting, frowning, and smiling. Creams can moisturize or exfoliate the surface of your skin, but they can't diminish the lines or wrinkles that are caused by the wearing away of the underlying collagen support layer. Collagen Replacement Therapy (CRT) is a safe, nonsurgical treatment that smooths out facial lines, wrinkles, and scars by replenishing the natural collagen support layer beneath your skin.
Over time, the sun, the elements, smoking, and the aging process take their toll, especially in the peri-oral area of the face. The corners of the mouth begin to droop. The V-shaped area of the upper lip (known as the Cupid's Bow) begins to flatten out and lose its youthful fullness. Vertical wrinkles or smoker's lines begin to appear, often causing lipstick to bleed. That once sensual look is gone or greatly diminished. With collagen injections, aging lips can be rejuventated and less full lips can be enhanced. This filler is soft, pliable, and has a natural feel.
How is Collagen Replacement Therapy Performed?
Collagen Replacement Therapy, sometimes referred to as a "lunchtime" procedure, usually takes less than twenty minutes of your time. Collagen Injections are a nonsurgical procedure, which replenish the skin's natural collagen support layer, smoothing facial lines, wrinkles, and most types of scars. We can also improve the appearance of deeper frown lines and nasial labial furrows. Collagen injections are relatively painless, because collagen contains a local anesthetic. It is injected under your skin or lips, beneath the wrinkle, through a tiny needle. Several injections may be required, depending on the depth and length of the wrinkles.Dermalogen
Dermalogen is a dermal graft/implant material used to treat facial contour defects. Originally, these grafts were used as a skin replacement for burn patients. Quickly, cosmetic and aesthetic surgeons worldwide recognized the benefits provided by this natural soft tissue replacement when used as an implant to repair or replace damaged or inadequate dermal tissue. The most common treatments include naso-labial folds, frown lines, peri-oral lines, depressed scars, and aging lips. Dermalogen is an injectable human dermal imlant material made from donated skin and recovered by an American Association of Tissue Banks (AATB) accredited tissue bank in New Jersey. Recovery is strictly regulated by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and follows the guidelines of the AATB. Just as in all donated tissue and organs (hearts, kidneys, livers, etc.), the tissue bank rigorously screens all tissue donors' medical records, their cause of death, and social history.
How is Dermalogen Implanted?
Dermalogen implantation procedures for the lips and nasal labial areas are done under a local anesthetic. A small incision is placed at either end of the treatment site. Then, the implant is inserted through the incision and gently positioned. The incisions are closed with a suture. The procedure takes about twenty to thirty minutes. |
